Our year-round, mentor led programming helps guide kids in Reno and Minneapolis to better health and more happiness, so they can grow into healthy, happy adults.
We empower kids in grades 2-8 with resilience and life skills to break the cycle of poor health and eliminate dependency on big pharma in adulthood.
MOBE Kids will pilot with exclusive partners in the Minneapolis and Reno area. With a strong commitment from schools, families, and the community, MOBE Kids will be able to expand programming using its proven model.
Through our program, we will eliminate the need for MOBE services for adults in the communities we serve.
Children facing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and prolonged stress develop toxic trauma, which leads to unhealthy habits and pharmaceutical-filled lives. MOBE Kids aims explicitly to foster healthy habits early in life. Our approach integrates physical activity, nutrition, and emotional well-being to help kids thrive.
Research has shown social and structural inequities disproportionately concentrated ACEs, toxic stress, their precursors, and their consequences in racially, socially, and economically marginalized communities. Research also tells us that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) can act as a protective barrier against negative outcomes attributed to ACES. There is evidence that PCEs and promoting safe, stable, and nurturing relationships can break the intergenerational cycle of adversity.
MOBE Kids provides children with nurturing and supportive relationships, constructive social engagement, and increased social-emotional competencies in a safe and equitable environment. Childhood learning that encompasses the development of social-emotional learning, physical health, and the formation of health-related behaviors lays the foundation for an adult life consisting of physical, emotional, and economic well-being.
ACEs do not need to define a child’s life or determine their fate. MOBE Kids is here to help guide kids in Reno and Minneapolis to better health and more happiness, so they can grow into healthy, happy adults.
We recruit, hire, and train young adults who reflect the students' culture and community to serve as mentors. We ensure they are trained and well-equipped to deliver evidence-based, professionally developed curriculum and programming.
We meet with students on a weekly basis for 90 minutes. Each session provides:
